Hello hello! I’m Chloe, but you probably already knew that from the giant title right above this.

I am a Filipino-American Writer/Director currently based in both the Los Angeles and Inland Empire counties of Southern California. My work specializes in fictional dramas and music documentaries, with themes of interrogating the ‘American’ identity, queer culture, and self-discovery.

Growing up, I was one of those kids who could never stick to one form of art, hopping around from ink-artwork to music to dance to writing to probably at least 20 more art forms, which led to my love for filmmaking, as I find it to be the perfect collision of multiple art forms all dedicated to my true love above all the different forms: storytelling. My whole life, I’ve been obsessed with escaping the real world, dreaming of adventure and other lives through comic books, films, and novels as a way to quiet my own overthinking mind and anxieties. I spent my recesses as a kid either with my head in a book, designing characters, or writing my own stories (I have a terrible 50+ chapter fictional book about high school teens hopping through alternate dimensions to reconstruct the conception of time under a random pseudonym floating in the depths of Wattpad somewhere that I wrote when I was 12 or 13……… yeah) instead of socializing. Storytelling and filmmaking have become the way I learned to speak to the world.

As a rock musician myself, with all my free-time most likely spent in mosh pits and DIY shows, I also love all things music documentaries. I have extensive experience working as an audio engineer, in both live and studio settings, and love capturing the unique worlds of different musicians through documentaries, music videos, and live performance tapings..

With influences of comic books, live rock music, and avant-garde fashion history, mixed with my experiences as a Filipino-American growing up in predominantly non-POC crowds and battling depression (PMDD) and anxiety (OCD), my work is colorful, bold, loud, and political, while also acknowledging the soft, gentle parts of the human condition. I strive to push forward messages of love and community prevailing in my work, as I believe we can all benefit from a bit of hope.

My education includes an M.F.A. in Film & TV Production, with an emphasis in Directing, from the University of Southern California (USC), School of Cinematic Arts, as well as a B.A. in Theatre, Film, and Digital Production, with an emphasis in Filmmaking and Acting, from UC Riverside.

Alongside my filmmaking, I am also a Costume Designer/Stylist and Creative Director. I spent several years learning garment construction, drapery, and design through working in a theatre costume shop, where I handmade many costumes for stage actors fully from scratch. I also just grew up with a deep love for fashion and in middle school, I began self-teaching myself sewing while studying the latest ELLE fashion spreads from my mom’s magazine pile, all while begging my parents to drive me to the LA Fashion District to go fabric shopping every other month.
